Wedding Bells are Ringing

Here are a couple of samples using the new Love you Much Bundle...I love this. Paper, punches and stamps..oh my! Stay tuned for details of an upcoming class using this bundle.

As I mentioned, my niece is getting married this summer...and they asked me to make the favours. This is going to be so much fun...and I know all the cousins, and aunts, and sisters, and inlaws will lend a helping hand.

The card is a standard card, with the top flap folded back on itself. I used versa mark to stamp the inside, and used white embossing powder to add the detail.

The little gift bag is made with some left over designer paper and the medallion is from the Love you much set.

Thanks for stopping by...and if you have any ideas to share for wedding favours...let me know. Nothing is finalized yet. They do like the little top note gift bag, and they would be easy peasy to make alot of in a short period of time.

Some Christmas projects to share....

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas vacation. I have to say this was one of the best Christmas seasons I have had. On Christmas Eve we got great news...my niece is getting married. Everyone is so excited, and we are already planning favours and wedding stuff...we are so happy for Jen and Bobby..it will be a great party...and lots of party and family time leading up to the big day!

We had lots of family time with my family, as well as with my MIL, who came on tues, and went home today. She lives in a retirement home, so really enjoys the hustle and bustle of our house...and all the home cooking. She helped make peanut brittle, apple crisp, scallop potatoes...and loved it all.

Here are some projects that I made leading up to Christmas. The Santa boxes are 2-3-6-8 boxes, and I added a strip of whisper white, some black and I used some retired bronze for the buckle.

The little packages are clear envelopes, the top note die and some little peppermint patty's inside. My good friend Lisa made a bunch of these, and there are tons of ideas on Splitcoaststampers to see as well.

Santa's face is made with punches, and is on a little pizza box...easy to make, and it held a pretty little necklace on Christmas morning...

Back to work tomorrow...wish I had 1 more day at home...but that will wait till Friday. Have a great week...I will a be back tomorrow with a sample from the "Love you much" bundle.

Oh Christmas Tree

I am addicted to these little trees. I searched the web to see who had the original idea, and there are so many...I picked this one as it was such a creative use of paper in general. Check out this blog, you won't be sorry.
The cards themselves are a new idea (not mine) called Scrapplings. I first saw these done on Val's site...she is awesome so be sure to check her out.
In addition, there is a challenge over at Splitcoast that you can find here.

I hope all your Christmas preparations are coming along, and that the weather isn't impacting your plans.

Ribbon Spools

What a difference 12 hours make! When I left the house this morning it was a balmy 8 celcius, by this afternoon, when I had shopped till I was ready to drop, it was down to below zero.

I will do my best to offer a post each day this week...here it is for today. These are little wooden clothes pins, wrapped with ribbon. I put a piece of cardstock inside a celo bag, tossed in the ribbon spools and added a little topper...simple, cute and a great way to make a little presentation for a couple of special people. I used up some left over ribbon and cardstock from last year's in colour series. I hope my friends like this little gift.
I used the large scallop die, as well as the little snowflake sizzlets and the All Cheer die for the embellishments.
Give it a try. This is a nice presentation for some of Mike's dollar ribbon or bits and pieces you may have laying around. Be sure to link back to me if you give this a try.

Mr and Mrs Santa Claus

Good Sunday Morning my friends. I am sorry that I have been away for so long. As I mentioned in my last post, this flu bug was terrible. Once I got home from work it was crash time, not stamping time. However, I think it is finally licked, and I spent yesterday in my craft room doing some catch-up.

These are little treat holders, and really simple to make. The idea came from Ruth's blog...great ideas and I encourage you to check her out!

Directions for Mr Claus
1.4x4 cardstock, scored all around at 1". Fold up into a little box..if you need more specific instructions, just let me know. You will need 2 of these for Mr, and 1 for Mrs Claus.
2. 2 pieces of 4 x 8.5 cardstock. Attach a piece of sticky strip along one bottom and one short side of this. You want to make sure your seam is in the back..."walk" your paper around the box you created to make his pants.
3. For the white trim I took a piece of whisper white, 8.5 x 3.4 and used my scallop edge punch to create his trim.
4. His Black trim is a piece of basic black, 1 x 8.5. For both the white and black,I used Mono adhesive.
5. For his buckle I used the tab punch and a piece of brushed gold.
6. His suspenders are 1 x 8.5

Mrs Claus
1. Box bottom as above.
2. For her dress, in this pic I used a piece 4 x 8.5, but for my next one, I will increase this to 6 x 8.5.
3. Scallop punch and the 3 for you punch complete her outfit.

Check out Ruth's site for more details, or drop me a line if you need help. For my Yorkview Ladies..this is what we are making on Wed night..I can hardly wait!

Big Shot ornament card

Hello Friends...sorry I have been mia, I have been sick with some kind of bug, and it has really knocked me off my feet. I finally got some medicine, and while I am feeling better, I still have a ways to go...oh well, nothing makes you feel better than creating something special.

This is for the weekly Challenge over at Splitcoast..you can check it out here. I used the big shot to create the large snowflake, topped it off with the little snowman from Deer Friends. I used heat and stick powder to adhere the glitter...if you want the details, let me know and I will post a tutorial.

The snowflake can be taken off, and hung on the tree.

What a week...

Good Sunday Morning...it is a beautiful day in Southwestern Ontario...lots of fresh snow, the sun is shining...and I am still sick! YUCK...maybe I should have gotten a flu shot, I have been fighting this for a couple of weeks, however, I crashed on Wed night, and am still sick. It isn't fun...and now I am just feeling sorry for myself!!

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to meet with some friends to share my love of stamping. We had so much fun...here is one of the projects we made...a fun Santa "card" gift holder. We used the large scallop for the big shot, cut out a scallop from real red, pink piroutte, and whisper white. I counted off 13 scallops and cut the real red at that mark, we attached the smaller piece, at a jaunty angle to the pink, and the remainder we attached to the back to use as a gift card holder. Fold the white scallop in half and attach to the front..as you can see, this is where you can add your greeting. Various punches add the facial features as well as the trim on his hat...Thanks to Heather, a local demo for the idea. She used the small scallop circle from the Big Shot, and added it as a scrapbook element...

The Reindeer ornament card also uses the big scallop...I used a regular sized card, and put it in the big shot, just below the top of the scallop die..that way, you still get the fold of the card. The reindeer face was a copy from Jackie's blog...add the tab punch and this acts as a tree ornament as well. I used the coluzzle to cut his face, and I cut a small snowflake from the big shot and used that as the antlers. A drop of crystal effects makes his nose "shiney and bright".

Check over at Splitcoast for the sunday challenge...I based my reindeer card on this

I hope you can get outside and enjoy this beautiful day...for me...I think I will try and do some stamping...maybe that will make it all better!

Mr Twigster..All Shook UP!

Good Snowy Monday Morning....here is a little gift box and 4 coaster shaker cards I made yesterday. The idea and design came from an online class I signed up for "UStamp" was an amazing class...chock full of great ideas and tips.

Thanks for stopping by..I have a busy week...3 workshops at minimum 10 for each class...and on Saturday at Sandy's Stamp a stack..we are making 20 cards each...I have everything cut out...and am taking my cardstock to Kinko's, so they can cut all the cardstock with one slice...that will save time, my arm and at least 2 blades.

Back to reality...I must get ready for work...Enjoy your day!

Joy...

One of our friends at work is expecting her second child, so I made a non typical baby card for her. I am also going to try my hand at a diaper cake...will let you know how that goes.

The Big Shot came in handy, as I used the word die, cut out the JOY, embossed with clear embossing powder. All the paper is retired, but I love last year's in colours. I really am happy with how this turned out.

Last night we saw Trace Adkins and Alan Jackson in concert....WOW. Trace sang for over an hour..Alan..over 90 minutes of singing....it was awesome...but boy am I tired this morning...anyway, enjoy this day..sounds like we are in for some wintery weather this weekend. Great excuse to play with paper, and trim, and ribbon, oh my!

A great day...

Yesterday was a bank holiday, in honour of Remembrance Day, and I took advantage of my day and played all day. I have 3 big events next week, so my prep work is well underway. Here are 2 samples for my Tues workshop. I am meeting with 10 ladies from work, who don't stamp, so my projects are pretty basic. In addition to these 2 items, we are also making Frosty..as a card. It will be fun sharing all the tricks with the Big Shot...the bag topper is so simple when using the top note die.

I wish I could play today..but as the old saying goes "I owe, I owe, so off to work I go!"

Remembrance Day

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Top Note Bags

Here is another great use for the top note die and the Big Shot...make up cute litte treat bags. A fellow demo showed us how to make these at our last mega event. The little box inside is a 4 x 4 square, scored at 1" all around..make sure you use sticky strip...if you are making boxes it is the only sure thing to keep them together. Use a little stamp..like this one from Deer Friends, add some layers...and a treat inside and there you go!

The Big Shot can easily cut through multiple layers of paper, in fact I cut all six at once...what time saver. There are over 50 different materials that the Big Shot can cut...WOW.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Our oldest daughter is bringing 4 friends home for dinner...I just need to set the table. On the menu..chicken tetrazini, caesar salad, garlic bread and cheesecake for dessert. I am so excited to have them over...so along with Hubby and Kathryn we will have a full house...

Butterflies

What a week...don't you love this part of the world where week ago we were shoveling snow to this week and we were wearing shorts! My posts and my crafting time have suffered this week...busy, busy, busy...but this weekend should be different. I have 3 big events in Nov, so I need to get cracking, so check back this weekend....I will have some teasers for you.

This was a quick and easy card..using up some of last year's in colours, the scallop edge punch for a decorative touch. The stampset is "Flight of the butterfly".

Thanks for stopping by...enjoy your day!

Playing with my Big Shot...

Where does the time go...I had all these plans for the weekend, and I really don't feel like I did much. I did manage to vacuum, but the dusting will have to wait for another time...I may need that phone number I wrote in the dust some day!!!

I did have a chance to play a little with my new toy...there are so many possibilities and so much fun to be had...I used the top note die for the layers...vellum over designer paper. It was a little flimsy so I cut out a piece of heavy cardboard to use as a backing...a quick run through the Big Shot and the job is complete. The stampset is "Flight of the Butterfly"...a fun set for double stamping.

The little pillow box is again a die for the big shot. The silver LOVE is actually a piece of adhesive backed tape from the hardware store...this thing will cut anything. My plan is to make some Christmas ornaments...I just need to get to Michaels.

Hope your weekend was fun filled...and that you got to do what you wanted to do with the ones you wanted to do it with!!

It looks alot like Christmas

WOW..what a storm yesterday...tons of snow and lots of tree damage. I always find it amazing how a storm such as this can create such beauty, the trees laden down with snow, sun brushing the tips...beautiful. However, the weight of the leaves and the heavy snow caused a tremendous amount of damage in our area. The chainsaws and cleanup crews are working overtime.

On a happy note...it is going to be 16 for the trick or treaters tomorrow...an balmy night will bring lots of little ones out!

I have been remiss in not sharing projects from our Create for a Cure. Lovely as a Tree is such a great set for all year! I have made Christmas cards, birthday, sympathy...you name the occasion, and this set will fit the bill. I created a mask using the coluzzle, we sponged the background, then over stamped with the trees. After removing the mask we added another tree. There is tons of glitter...and the burgundy and kiwi kiss are great colours for the festive season.

The snowman was totally inspired by Dawn Griffiths. She has amazing videos on her site so be sure to check it out. I turned her card into a Snowman Soup bag. The white bag is from Michaels and contains a hot choc mix, some mini marshmallows and a candy cane for stirring. The ladies loved this little guy and he is so versatile.

Enjoy your day...my new Big Shot finally arrived last night, but as excited as I was to get him, I was too pooped to play...but once I am home from work tonight I have a date with my new toy!

Thanks for your support...1st Annual Create for a Cure..is deemed a success

Just a quick note of thanks to Lisa, and to all of our friends who attended our first annual Create for a Cure. We also owe a huge thank you to our sponsors: TDCanadaTrust, Forest City Concrete Finishing Ltd, and Stampin Up. With their generous support we had a wonderful prize table, where everyone got a gift and we gave away a Big Shot! What a day. Here are just a few pictures, we were so busy we forgot to get our camaras out.
I also just realized, I need to take pictures of the projects...oh well...it is jammie time now...those pictures will wait till tomorrow!

It is so much fun to introduce people to the world of paper crafting. The instant satisfaction of completing a really cute project, the feeling of accomplishment and the pride in displaying their creations are the big pay offs for me! I love sharing this craft...and it is a chance to connect with ladies in a fun and relaxing manner.

Check out the creations we did tonight...we made the punchy owl, and the kit kat wrappers. So easy, so fun...if you are in London...let me know if you would like to join us on the the 3rd Wed of every month...

Happy Thanksgiving Day

"Thanksgiving is a time for remembering and appreciating the special people in our lives. Our home is warmed by the love of family and friends."
-- Anonymous

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian Friends. Our family is actually having our dinner outside today, as it will be 26 degrees here in southwestern Ontario. My Mom and Dad are moving from a farm to a 2 bedroom appt so we are combining a garage sale with our picnic...it will be wonderful afternoon with family and friends and tons of food. As a family we truly are blessed with gratitude and thanskgiving for the gifts God has given us. Where ever your travels take you today, take a moment to appreciate what you have.

Scallop Flower

Good Morning Friends...it is a cool fall day here in Ontario, however there is the promise of sunshine and that is a blessing! We made these cards at our stamping club last month. Jenn D had a wonderful video that makes it so easy to create the scallop flowers. We used the bella rose designer paper. I love punches and there are so many creative ladies who take them to the next level. This is easier than it looks...give it a try and let me know how you make out. Thanks for visiting today and I hope the sun is shining where you are!

Friday's Featured Card

Here is a little challenge for you, along with a tip on layering. When I first started making cards one of the biggest challenges for me was getting my layers right! So, here is my method. I use the 1/4 inch rule. I usually stamp my focal point, then add a matte 1/4 inch bigger, and so on! Play with the rule...a black border that is only 1/8" bigger adds some drama...

My best method...and here is the real secret..play the weekly sketch challenge over on splitcoast, or do Beate's Friday sketch..they both offer great designs...and best of all suggested measurements!

This card was for a weekly sketch challenge (I am sorry I don't remember which one). Use it as your inspiration, make your own card...then link it back to my blog. Just add a comment with the link to where you post it...either your blog, or splitcoast...doesn't matter...I just want to see what everyone else comes up with.

I am leaving for the beach...one last weekend before we close the trailer. Right now the sun is shining..although it is quite cool here in Southwestern Ontario. This weekend is very special as my hubby and I are celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary on Monday. He is a great husband, a devoted Dad, an all round good guy...I am lucky to have him!

Have a wonderful weekend...share your designs...and make sure, in my honour...YOU KISS THE ONE(s) YOU LOVE THE MOST!

Box in a bag set

I will be offering this as a class. The cute "box in a bag" will hold 6 cards and envies...a nice gift for Christmas...or we can make them all occasion. For this sample I used bella rose designer paper, I used the scallop edge punch for the trim on the bottom, and the cute little reindeer is from the level 2 hostess set "deer friends".Choc chip ribbon adds a nice touch and the sentiment is from "Heard from the Heart.I will be running this class in mid to late November. Watch here for details.

Monkeying around

Hello my Friends...here is a little monkey (sock monkey to be exact). The little treat holder was a gift at a recent stamping meeting...made by a very talented demo. Each little treat contained a choc bar...who doesn't need chocolate while stamping. The sock monkey is a very fun and versatile stampset...check out the gallery on Splitcoast to see all the wonderful ideas there are for this little guy.

Check back tomorrow for all the details on our "Create for the Cure" help Stamp out Breast Cancer...Mega Event. I will have all the details and how you can win a big shot...check back tomorrow...it will be a late day post as I am volunteering a Pearce Williams tomorrow.

Who Gives a Hoot???

I originally saw the "how-to"video on Dawn Griffith's blog, and wanted to give it a try. Then for today's Featured Stamper there was a card with a stamped owl..so I just had to play along. Without a doubt..of all the cards I have made...I love this guy. Here is the link to Dawn's blog...she is one talented lady.

Club night at Yorkview...

Sorry I have been away for so long...we have a trailer in Sauble Beach..the most beautiful beach in Ontario. My hubby...actually took a couple of days off this week, and we spent time together at the outdoor Plowing Match, then did some touring and relaxing around Sauble. The weather has been fantastic...sunny and warm. I will post some pictures of our time at the beach later on.

For now, I want to share the pics from our "Yorkview Ladies Night". I work in a call centre for a bank...in a building that has over 1000 staff. I think there are 4 Stampin Up demos in our building..and there are plenty of customers to go around. Our group has decided to meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month...so, if you work at Yorkview, drop me a line and we will include you in our next event.

The card Jen is holding was a case from Wildrose Stamper. Like myself, she loves the set "inspired by nature" but it just isn't in the budget. Using the scallop circle punch she created the card that we used as our inspiration. We used the scallop edge punch to make the "ric rac" piece at the bottom, and tinted white ribbon with brown ink to match our design. Hope you like it.

Today is another wonderful sunny fall day...My hope is that you can spend time with the ones you love the most, doing what you love to do.

Create for a Cure...Save the date...

Make sure you save the date for the first annual "Create for a cure" to help stamp out Breast Cancer. Saturday Oct 25th, in lovely Dorchester. Lisa and I are hosting an event with tons of fun projects, prizes, treats...and SOMEONE WILL WIN A "BIG SHOT"...That's right...we are giving away a "Big Shot".

DO SOMETHING ABOUT BREAST CANCER

Each year, thousands of Canadians are touched by breast cancer. It not only impacts the individuals living with the disease, but their families, friends and loved ones as well. At the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, we are working to create a future without breast cancer.

The money we raise will be donated to the fight against breast cancer, and we will be issuing tax receipts.

We still have lots of details to iron out...but we wanted to make sure you saved the date. There will be limited seating...so let me know if you would like me to reserve you a spot.

Tilt a Whirl

The local fair is winding up today, and while I didn't attend I saw the sights and heard the sounds, and smelled the yummy food each day I left work. I subscribe to a blog run by a very talented local gal...and this card design was posted this week. The butterfly spins. I used heat and stick powder to attach the glitter..this is a great technique and it keeps your glitter in place, rather than flaking off before you can get the card in the mail. I used all new in colours, along with the Dreams du Jour stamp set. Yorkview Ladies...we are making this card on Wed...as part of our Getting Punchy workshop.

Enjoy this beautiful day. They are calling for a rain warning later today, but right now it is sunny, hot and hazy!

Having fun with Punches

I am hosting a class on using punches for more than the original intent. First up are some Sesame Street cards I made this week. These are 3 x 3 cards made of craft paper...I really like the neutral background this paper offers. Using my scallop punch, small circle punches for the eyes and the small oval for the mouth you can create tons of fun characters. Once again, Splitcoaststampers has tons of ideas and templates. I will be posting some more creations tomorrow. Sandy, Becky, Jen and Maeghan...enjoy your little notes. They were fun to make and I loved your reactions when you opened the envelopes...

Beate's Weekend Challenge

Here is my card for Beate's weekend sketch challenge. A recurring comment I hear from my friends is "where do you get all your ideas?" The answer...from searching blogs such as Beate's, as well as doing some of the challenges posted each day on Splitcoasts
tampers. Look through galleries, set up a "favourite" file on your web and check them out daily. My only ask...make sure you give credit to the original designer. There are wonderful talented ladies out there and they deserve the credit if we "borrow" an idea. I am giving credit to MJ Albright for the medalion in the centre of the card. This is made with the new scallop punch. Be sure to check out her site for other great ideas (http://mjalbright.wordpress.com/2008/07/)

This card uses all new in colours..kiwi kiss, and the bela rose designer paper. The stamped image is from the set "Dreams du Jour". Have a creative day..I am starting a 6 day week...it will be a long one. However, now that my stampin space is so tidy..maybe I can sneak in a project or 2..

fs83 Splitcoast Challenge..Dreams

Each Sunday there is a featured stamper challenge, over on Splitcoast. You are directed to a gallery, select a card, then go make your own. Check out the challenges, there is a new one everyday. This is a terrific way to get tips and techniques. Give it a try, then post a comment and let me know what you did.

Cleaning up is hard to do...but so worth it!

I will admit..I am a huge procrastinator. Not putting things back when I am finished compounds my situation. As a result, my basement workspace was in a word "MESSY!" We also have a pool table, but as you will see from the before photos...not much playing has been accomplished recently.

There is still work for me to do...however, I now have 2 great workspaces, and we can play pool. I still need to work on organizing my paper and my scraps...but at least now I can actually find them. Have a happy Sunday...hopefully I will get a chance to use my new space and create something great!
