Elements of Style Toile

Good Morning Friends, finally some relief from the heat wave we have had here. A gentle, much needed rain is falling, making for a lovely day! We are traveling this weekend to see my niece and her hubby and attending a huge cattle sale. They have a beautiful farm at Belleville, and tonight and this weekend are hosting their friends and business associates for a Jersey Sale. My Mom and Dad are going with us, so it will make for a nice little family reunion.

I have to say, this is one of my all time favourite cards I have made. Totally copied from a number of sources on the net, and it really looks like toile fabric. The image is stamped with regular ink, then I used the blender pen to pull the colour through the image. I make a beautiful soft effect. The base image is done the same way, however, I ran it through the textured embossing folder from the mini. The colour combo is crumb cake and rich razzleberry. Give this technique a try, use other colours, I have one almost done using black, and WOW, is it elegant.

Enjoy your weekend, I know I will...and make sure you take some time out for yourself to create.

Step into Summer

This Greenhouse Garden DSP is quickly becoming my all time favourite paper. The colours are amazing, and they coordinate so well with old olive....LOVE IT!

There are so many sources of inspiration and I have a few "go to sites." This card was an almost complete case from Lyssa, she has great ideas. Pals paper arts post a new challenge every Thurs. This week it is a Summer theme challenge. This card fits the challenge.

The little bird is from Elements of Style and I did the kissing technique to get the 2-toned colour. I stamped it first in Apricot appeal, then just lightly touched the old olive stamp pad to the very edges. Add some crystal effects, some glitter, and you have a lovely little card.

Thanks for stopping by today. Do you like the new look of my blog?? It is a new template, and I am very happy with it.

We have the minimum number to run this event, but the more the merrier. If you would like more details, leave me a comment.

Q-tips...not just for cleaning your ears!

One of the best things about Stampin UP is getting free stuff! Today I received this new set, Elements of Style, for free! I earned it during Salebration! Now, I am just a part timer, doing this mostly for fun! Wouldn't you like to do something you love, and get free stuff as a result? I would love to fill you in on all the benefits of becoming a demo...just ask!

Now, the q-tips! Dawn O, a very talented demo, showed us how to colour images using a q-tip. The image is stamped in sahara sand, then I used pretty in pink and melon mambo for the flowers, and old olive for the leaves. Just dip your q-tip into some ink that is smushed onto the lid of the ink pad! Take your glue pen, and add some dazzling diamonds...and voila....a beautiful card, even if I do say so myself! (just did, didn't I??)

Elements of Style is new in the summer mini, very reasonably priced at $26.95 for the clear mount. There are 2 sentiments, a cute little hummingbird, a lovely swirl, and the image on the cards.

Hope you are all enjoying this lovely warm weather. It would sure be nice if this is what our real summer will be like!!
