Happy Birthday to my baby girl!

20 years ago we welcomed Kathryn Elizabeth Wheeler to our family! She was the Dorchester New Year's baby! We are so proud of the young woman she has become and wish her all the best as she returns to school!

This is the card I made for her...love it! The paper is from the new pack available free during Salebration...you will love it! I was totally inspired by this card from Sandy! This paper coordinates so nicely with the 2011-2013 In colors. It has a lovely vintage tinge to it and I know you will be seeing tons of cards made with this paper!

Take a look at the edges of the paper...I used both the new edgelets as well as the new embossing folders that are available in the new mine which launches on Jan 4th!

Happy New Year Stamping Friends....hope all your dreams and wishes come true in 2012. My friend Lisa posted a card first thing this morning so she is my inspiration for kick starting my stamping year!

This is a money holder. I made a bunch of these for Christmas and this one is for a friend to load up with cash for a wedding she is attending. There are so many new things in the Occasions Mini that launches this week, including the dies that will scallop the bottom of the card! This adds such a lovely finish to any card. Never forget to decorate your envelop and here you can see I stamped it then added some bling.

How is your shopping and preparations for Christmas going? For me, I need to hit the mall one more time, and get wrapping! This card was on we made at Sandy's. Love the silver glimmer paper on the stockings! The snowflakes are from the triple layer punch. The snowflakes were embossed into the background and really made a lovely design.

No promises, but I do hope to be back with some more creations before the end of the week! Merry Christmas...may all your dreams come true!

Sparkly Snowman

All is ready for the Stampastack at my friend Sandy's house. We are making 10 cards and a Lolly to put on a parcel then hang on the tree. I made up some yummy cookies and used the new cookie press with the snowflake to add the design.

The snowman and the main image panel are stamped on naturals white. The card stock is rose red and the polka dot dsp is from the pattern pack. The silver glimmer paper adds just the right amount of bling for Christmas.

We have a nice number attending, and I had so much fun putting the cards together. See you in the morning ladies...I can't wait!

Snow Much Fun....

What a lovely weekend here in Southwestern Ontario. It sure was a weekend of contrasts, at the same time, my hubby was washing vehicles, a neighbour was mowing lawn and the neighbour across the street was hanging Christmas Lights. A fantastic fall day to get done whatever you needed to get done!

Love this chubby little snowman from Snow Much Fun. We will be making him at Sandy's house next Saturday.

He is stamped on whisper white, coloured with some markers, add a couple of lines of Tombo glue and throw on some of the new mica flakes. The snowballs are punched out of the silver glimmer paper!

Enjoy what is left of the weekend...I am hoping my Hubby soon falls asleep so I can switch from Nascar to a movie!!!! I just can't grasp the fun of watching cars driving in a circle!

Is anyone out there hooked on Stumbleupon? You sign in, select your interests, then hit stumble and voila....another great way to waste time!! Some of my friends have also recently hooked me on to Pinterest...haven't gotten the hang of that but I am sure I will.

I digress....I stumbled upon the directions for this super cute "Motorcycle Diaper Cake" and I couldn't resist making one up. The directions are so easy and it can be personalized anyway you like. Instead of ribbon to wrap the wheeles, I used a receiving blanket. It sure would make a fun conversation piece at a baby shower.

Congrats to Tyson and Jess and your new daughter...hope you enjoy this little gift!

Meet Stretch...isn't he a cutie patootie? He is one of the images from the set "Snow much fun!". This is the set we will be using at Sandy's house in November for our stampastack! Cherry cobbler and crumb cake combine to make a perfect colour combo for Christmas.
I used a blender pen to add a hint of colour and dimension....isn't he cute?

Have a wonderful weekend...we are headed to the beach to close up our trailer. It is rainy and cool...typical weather when we close up....I am taking my Simply Scrappin kit...and getting prepped to show you some sneak peeks for the "BIG EVENT!" It's all about the Big Shot!

Checking out the gallery on Splitcoast is a daily ritual. Wednesday's is the sketch challenge day. While doing my daily "stroll" I fell in love with THIS card and totally copied it.

Since this is the month you can get a FREE Big Shot by signing up to get the demo kit, I "shot" this card up. The white panel is cut with the top note die and embossed with polka dot embossing folder. The real red layer is embossed with the newest folder from the winter mini. The glimmer paper (ask me how to colour it to get any colour match!) was embossed, and then I punched out the centre to make it look like Santa's belt buckle. It may be hard to see, but the black belt is scored on either side of the ribbon for added dimension.

I am on vacation this week, and am making final plans for my annual Big Event. The creative juices are flowing, and I am getting in the crafty groove! The colours of fall are in full bloom here and I think that is helping me in getting some projects completed.

For the longest time I have been looking for the exact dimensions for this type of card, and I finally found them! The Clean and Simple

website has fantastic sketches, challenges, and best of all they post the dimensions. Yippee I am a happy Stamper!I love the combo of Cherry Cobbler, very vanilla and black. The dsp is retired "newsprint". These little thank you cards are for someone who sang at a wedding, so the "note" paper was perfect.Thanks for putting up with my sporadic posting. These were the first cards I have made since returning from Nova Scotia. However, stay tuned as I am in the midst of prepping for my annual Stamping Event.Isn't this weather amazing? Sure hope that even though tomorrow is the first day of fall, these sunny warm days stay around.

Without a doubt, my new favourite "toy" is the wonderful new Simply Scored tool in the new winter mini! You must get tired of me saying this, but this new mini is THE BEST one yet! New stamps, dies, ribbon...the list goes on. Now, the details on the Simply Scored...

Here are a few amazing features that sets it apart:

It has GROOVES EVERY 1/8″ – meaning you don’t have to keep taking your cardstock out of your score tool and measure with your ruler where you need to score
It has an OPEN SIDE ON THE RIGHT making it easy to fit in papers that are larger than 12″ – this also allows you to easily remove your cardstock

I am still at work in Nova Scotia, today is another beautiful sunny day. We had a chance to do the Cabot Trail and go whale watching this weekend...in a word...WOW! Not to worry "Fans" I haven't left the country....but I am in Nova Scotia for 3 weeks doing some training for the Bank I work for. Today we took a tour of the Cabot Trail, had lunch at the Red Shoe Inn and enjoyed the best hamburger I have ever eaten...not kidding. It is owned by the Rankin Sisters and was so great!

Here is a card I made for Jen and Bobby, who are expecting their first child....lots of punches and of course, totally copied from someone on the internet....

We are bracing here for Hurricane Irene....we talked to a Lobster Fisherman and he said they are moving all their boats to a safe harbour. He was so funny, we told him we were going to drive part of the Cabot Trail and he said "Holy moley and Jesus!"

Hope the weather back home is as nice as it was here today, 27 and sun, sun, sun...let's hope Irene doesn't make landfall!

Colour Challenge from Stampin Fun & Friends

I made this card for a double challenge over at Stampin Fun and Friends.http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif This is a gate fold card, and I love the texture on this card. Stampin Up has come out with a bunch of new embossing folders, the stripes, as well as the frame around the sentiment. The colour challenge was to use cajun craze, night of navy and more mustard. The dsp is from the Perfect Paisley pack...love it!

This project was totally inspired by today's post on Stampin Fun and friends blog. Tracey Old is today's guest designer and she put together a fun box full of girlie stuff for a birthday gal. The box is actually made with the fancy favour die for the big shot. Tracey's directions include all the measurements and directions to turn the favour into a great gift box.

Ok, who else is in love with Will and Kate? They just seem so likable and so much in love...as someone in the crowd said "great role models!"

This is shaping up to be a fantastic weekend! I am heading out to Pearce Williams Christian Centre to do a craft with the kids this morning. Once that is done we are headed to our "little tin can" by the lake!

Now I know I have lots of visitors each day...I thank you! Sometimes I get gentle reminders that I have been lax in posting...I like that!

Fabric bulletin board

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. The weather here was perfect, hot, with a lovely breeze, just perfect for a family picnic for Father's Day supper.

Over the weekend I took some time to redo my craft space...still a HUGE work in progress, but I like what I got done. My daughter moved home and had a desk from IKEA. It is now in my room, and I love the solid workspace and the shelves to hold assorted stuff. That will be revealed later (don't hold your breath...) There was a white board portion on one side that was just perfect for a fabric covered bulletin board. The instructions for these are all over the net, and I used foam insulation rather than cork, cause that is what was in the house. The fabric and ribbon is from Stampin Up, and will be in the new catalog. It fits perfect and I love adding in all the little inspiration pieces and pics I had just laying around.

Have a fantastic week. Hope to get back here with some new samples from the catalog and the new in colours...they are lovely!

Tie one on for Dad

Here is a fun card just in time for Father's Day. I used the peach parfait paper, along with some funky designer paper to make the tie. Let me know if yohttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifu would like the directions, I have them in a word document. I copied them from a blog, but can't remember who's it was. The directions are very easy to follow. The tie is made following a utube video...go HERE to see that. You can change the size of the tie by changing the size of the square of paper you start with.

Go crazy and mix up the colours and designs and maybe this will be one tie Dad won't mind receiving on Father's Day.

Graduation Day...

This is a fun card to make for any graduate at this time of the year.It holds special meaning as I made this for my daughter Meaghan, as she graduated with distinction from UWO. She is a nurse and will be working with sick kids...critical care. To say we are proud of her is an understatement. She was an honours student in all 4 years, and worked extremely hard to realize her dream of becoming a nurse.

Dawn O, is one talented demo and you can see her video HERE, on how to make this fun card! If you used different papers, and added other embellishments this would be turned into any occasion card! A little project...great for Dad!

hello Stamping Friends...I made this little album a while ago, but couldn't remember where I found the directions...until today. You can click HERE and see how Robin decorated hers.

This comes together very quickly and would make a great little scrapbook for anyone...including Dad!

Directions:
The cover is a piece of 6" x 12" cardstock scored at 5 7/8" and again at 6 1/8". This creates the spine of the album.

The DSP on the spine is cut at 3" x 6" and is scored at 1 3/8" and again at 1 5/8".

The inside cardstock "pages" are one piece of 10" x 10" cardstock. It's scored at 5", then turned and scored again at 5" so you have 4 sections.
Next, you cut one of the score lines up to the middle of the cardstock. This cut allows you to fold your album pages.
Important - one thing that I do differently is after I make that cut, I leave the cardstock in the cutter, but shift it over about 1/16" and make another cut back out to the edge alongside the first one. It cuts out a tiny sliver of cardstock and makes your pages much easier to fold up.

I decorate all my "pages" before adhering it to the decorated album cover, it's much easier to handle this wey. All my DSP panels are cut at 4 3/4" square and I add embellishments of paper strips, ribbon, etc. on top of them after adhering them to the pages.

Graduation Treat Box

Preparations for graduation are a big deal. These would make great place card favours, or a little gift box for something special. We are so proud of our daughter, who is graduating from Western with her Nursing degree. She has a job at LHSC on the pediatric critical care unit!

This little treat box demonstrates the versatility of the petal cone die from the big shot. You cut out 2 pieces, a little scoring, a snip here, some tape there, and voila, the cutest little treat box ever!

Maybe I will use this to hold a special memento to celebrate this event...shh, don't tell!

Welcome to a rainy cool day! Hope this card brightens your day. Take a close look and you will see the newest impression made with embossing folder from the summer mini. It looks like poppies and is so elegant and versatile. The flowers are from Fifth Avenue floral. They are stamped on a piece of whisper white, then embossed with white embossing powder. I used daubers to swirl on some ink, and quick as a wink, a pretty card, sure to brighten someone's day.

Believe it or not...I scrapped something

Yesterday I spent the day with some wonderful scrappy ladies, and we crafted from 9-5! How fun is that! Hard to believe, but I actually did 2 pages! These are for Stella, so we will pick out some great shots and add them to the pages. Once I find some inexpensive 12 x 12 frames, these will go on the wall, not in a book!

Start with 12 x 12 whisper white add on some embellishments, some fun ribbon and using a sketch from blog land...I was able to put these pages together in a snap!

Best intentions to blog more often, no excuses, I just haven't gotten to it. However, I hope you will feel this is worth the wait. This is what I demo'd the other evening to other local demonstrators...and it was a hit!

The flying butterflies inside add a nice surprise to whoever opens this card. To make this I started with the standard half sheet of card stock. HOWEVER, it is all in the scoring. Score in from both sides at 4 1/8" that will create a nice spine so your card lays flat and when opened, the butterflies flutter! Using the butterfly big shot die, I cut 4 butterflies, sponged the edges, folded in half then glued them together. The tombo multi glue works like a charm for this. I then added glue along the fold lines and attached them to the spine of the card. You could use any shape, punched or die cut to get the same effect. Wouldn't hearts be cute, or circles to make a snowman???

The stampset is Hope and Strength and as I mentioned before $2.00 from each set will be donated to fight Breast Cancer.

But I did use my favourite item...the Big Shot! See the glitter butterflies...those are from dollar store glitter fun foam, and the Bigz Butterfly die for the Big Shot. This wreath is made with a garden hose, and some silk flowers. Fun to make, and I hope my mother in law will like it.

I have been reminded that I haven't been very regular in posting, so I promise to do better!

Have a lovely Spring week...things are greening up nicely...and we haven't had many sunny days! When the sun decides to stick around, and warm things up it will be a welcome change!

Easter Easel Butterflies

These little gems are all over the internet. If you have the Big Shot and the butterfly die, these can be "cranked" out very quickly. I first saw them on Stampin Connection, which is for Demo's only. However, there is a great tutorial HERE. These fit perfectly into the little mini envelopes that Stampin Up sells. Wouldn't they make cute place cards at a shower or a wedding?

Thanks to the 23 generous ladies who joined me last night...take a look at what we made and more important, take a look at what we collected! My trunk is full of food for the local food bank.

We did a 12 card stamp a stack. Check back tomorrow and I will post all the cards close up. They were simple, fun and the ladies really enjoyed making them and having an opportunity to visit and chat and create.

A special thanks to Diane who really organized everything from the invitations, the venue and the pizza!

There is so much truth to the saying "Together we can make a difference!" In this case we are donating the food to the food bank. Next time, I will be hosting a stamp a stack to fight Breast Cancer. Stampin Up has a wonderful new set, and from every set sold $2.00 will be donated to fight this terrible disease.

6x6 Beautiful Ladies

Here is the start of another progressive scrapbook page. The 12 x 12 page was posted before, but I wanted to show you how the page comes together one layer at a time. Once again I started with this simple 6x6 page. I will then add it to an 8.5x11 page, and finally (when I get my stamping space cleaned up) will be added to a 12 x 12.

The highlight of these pages is the subject matter...my 2 beautiful girls with their cousin...a bride who was absolutely gorgeous on her wedding day.

Cropalooza Lolapalooza...

Ok...just to get this off my chest...IT IS SNOWING AGAIN! Ok, done, now back to a brief update for you. This weekend was Cropalooza at Elmhurst and wow, did I have fun. Meeting new friends, spending time with already friends, and sharing our love of paper crafting, makes for a wonderful two days. Once again, Karen and Lisa put on a fantastic event, and the plans are in the works for the fall retreat in October.

My make and take was a fun flower book mark. Dawn has a fantastic video...and I of course copied it exactly. We used in colour designer paper and matching ribbon, and the gals loved them. Hope the silly ladies pictured here can find a book to put them in...they aren't headbands.

I will do my best to post on a more regular basis...I have quite a stock pile of cards to share.

Drive safe, and hope that soon the sun will shine and get that rhubarb growing...it is almost salsa making time!!!

Wasn't that the title of a song? Man I am dating myself, and now I will have to look up the words and who sung it. If you know, leave me a note please!!!!

This card came together so quickly and really has a WOW factor. The Big Shot makes it so easy. I used the Daisy die and cut out the flowers and layered them on the designer paper. So quick and easy. Spray on some shimmer paint and this makes a really lovely presentation. This card is made from a full sheet of paper, so finding an envelop is challenging. Since this is 3-d I am going to make a box. Stay tuned, I will try and do a tutorial on box making for any size!!!

Thanks to the wonderful ladies who joined me at the event yesterday. We were able to collect some much needed food for the foodbank and had tons of fun in the process.

This card wasn't a final contender, but I love it anyway. The poppy parade paper is so fun and bright...makes you think of spring! Layer on some coordinating designer paper and matching ribbon, and you have a quick fun card.

The stamp I used is from the Punch Bunch set which is free with a Sale a bration order. Act fast, the offer is only available until the end of March.

Gotta run, family birthday party at our house tonight! Family, fun and food...a great combo!

Stamp a Stack reminder

Well, another snowy morning here in Dorchester. Mother Nature seems quite confused, but I guess we need to remember it is still winter.

Thoughts of spring will certainly be in the air next Saturday. There are still spots available for the stamp a stack. I am closing registration on Wed, so I have time to finish up all the projects.

Remember this is in support of the Foodbank, and for every item you donate you get a ticket on the prize basket!

This card is a total case of Angie Juda. She is a hugely talented demo and has a wonderful website full of ideas and inspiration...be sure to stop by. What a lovely morning. March has arrived like a lamb and a nice change from the cold and snow we have had. On the weekend I finally made this little easel box...and it was so easy. Check out the directions HERE. Very easy to follow and so much fun once it is all together. The paper is Poppy Parade and the coordinating designer paper. Progressive scrapbooking

This weekend I was asked to demo stamping and scrapbooking. As most of you know, I don't do a lot of scrapbooking. However, I do have some great shots from Jamaica so I decided I needed to get started. This is the progressive method to creating a scrapbook page. Start with a 6 x 6 page. When you get your pictures, most are 4 x 6, so I didn't even crop the picture. This picture is my daughter Meaghan and her "twin" cousin Kaitlan who was married in Jamaica (so much fun, but I digress!) Meaghan and Kaitlan were born one day apart! Once I had the 6" page completed, I added it to an 8.5 x 11" page. Then I added that to the 12 x 12 page...it really came together nicely. I have a companion page almost finished, and will be sure to post that one once it is completed. The colour combo is blushing bride (appropriate don't you think?) and pear pizzaz! Add some punches, a little stamping and pop out the butterfly and there you go!

Yesterday I spent the day with my scrapping friends at a fund raiser for the Heart and Stroke Society. Congrats to Diane in raising over $3000.00 in memory of her parents. So much fun and such a great cause to support.

Stella, Big Shot and Stampastack!!

Good Morning, it is another wonderful morning here. We have a new addition to our household...a beautiful cockapoo named Stella. Meaghan has been looking for a puppy and we sure lucked out with Stella, she is such a wonderful dog, and is so good. She is 10 months old and sure makes having a pet a real treat!

The other pictures were totally lifted from Frenchie. She is a very talented demo, and these items are made with the newest die for the Big Shot. When I first saw the Petal cone die, it wasn't on my wish list. However, after seeing the creations, I was hooked. Mine arrived yesterday, and I can't wait to play with it this weekend. In the meantime, I am showing off what Frenchie has created.

Good Sunday Morning

It is a lovely morning here in Southwestern Ontario, sunny and not too cold! This card is my first attempt at a tri-shutter card. It really is fairly simple, and if you need a video just do a search on google and you will get a huge selection! The card stock is pear pizzaz which I love,along with the matching designer paper. The front panel is embossed with the Big Shot, then I used some pastels to pop the little flowers. Since this card was for a very special person (happy birthday Ashley) I added tons of bling, and smootch spritz to dress it up.

Cards like this can be really bulking and it can be difficult finding an envelop to fit. The solution, make a card box. This takes a full sheet of paper, but goes together so easy. The tutorial can be found HERE! A quick tip, I used Tombo glue instead of the tape and it holds just fine.

Notice the little embellishment on the scallop circle? It is a little yo-yo I made using some new designer paper from the mini. There is a circle die for the big shot, and it makes cutting fabric circles a breeze!

It has been ages since I made a waterfall card, and now I am hooked again. They can be a little time consuming, but so worth the effort. There is a great tutorial on spitcoast and I followed it to a t! If you would like to watch a video, check out the one by Dawn...makes it easy peasy for you to see how to put these fun cards together.

The little bees from "Just buzzin by" were the perfect fit for the little squares. You may wonder how I got the words stamped...thanks for asking. I use my stamp a ma jib, and markered only the word I wanted to stamp! Neat trick!

Butterflies are free....

We needed a big card at work for all of us to sign. This uses a whole sheet of cardstock, and I layered on pear pizzaz, very vanilla and some dsp from the mini. Using the Big Shot and the butterfly emboslit adds just the right touch. Hope Alicia likes this card. I spritzed with smooch spray for added glimmer, and the little diamonds add even more bling. The ribbon is rose seam binding from the mini...love it!

I am planning a spring stamp a stack for mid March. I will keep you posted on the details!

Concord Crush Wedding Card

We had a fabulous time in Jamaica. My niece was married on the beach, and there were 72 of us who joined in the celebrations. It really was a trip of a lifetime. Last evening we got together again to party the night away and celebrate their marriage. We had a crazy drive as we were hit with a surprise snow storm. However, we made it and danced till 2am!

This is the card I made for the happy couple. Love the tulip embossing folder, and the butterfly sizzlet that you use in the Big Shot. The purple colour is concord crush and fit perfectly with the scheme for the wedding.

The flourish is from the set Baroque Motifs. This card really needed purple ribbon, and I didn't have any. So, I dyed some seam binding with a concord crush ink pad. Easy peasy and now I have ribbon that matches perfectly. To save on the mess, I held the ribbon down with a sponge and dragged the ribbon through the ink. I added some smooch spritz to add a lovely sheen!

Well we are getting another dumping of snow this morning, on top of all the snow we got yesterday! The happy news is that next week at this time we will be headed to Jamaica!

Despite the snowstorm yesterday, I spent the day with my "Scrappin' Sistas". I was a little late, and left early but I did manage to accomplish a lot, including these cute little pizza boxes. They hold 4 mini note cards, and envelops. These would also work well for little candies.

Good Snowy Morning....last night a group of demo's got together at Lisa's and we all got to make this card and the little pillow box just in time for Valentine's Day! It was so fun to actually make something. Thanks Lisa for hosting a fun meeting and preparing this make and take for us.

We used real red for the base, blushing bride for the embossed panel, and the circle is shimmer white. Do you love the glitter heart? This is new glitter paper in the Spring Mini...it is a great product, and the glitter stays on the paper! You can punch it out, cut it, run it through the Big Shot...so versatile!

Another snowy day here in Ontario, and I just checked the weather in Nashville and it is pretty much the same as here! I sure hope all the demo's making the trip to Leadership get there safe and sound, with out delays!

At this time of year none other than Santa Claus is the focus on many minds. While Jesus is the Reason for the Season, it is still Santa Claus who continues to capture our imaginations and our hearts this time of the year.
There are great tutorials out there, but check out the one here if you need a good visual.

These boxes are so simple. Here are the directions: 1 - 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece card stock (you will get 2 boxes from one piece of paper.)
Paper trimmer with scoring blade or ruler with bone folder
Red line tape or a good tacky glue.
Scissors
From short side of card stock, score lines at 2”, 4”, 6”, and 8”, leaving 1/2” for
flap. Score from one long side of card stock at 2”.
Cut on lines from bottom edge to scored edge. Remove small corner piece.
Place red line tape on side flap and on one of the flaps that will be the bottom
most flap when it is folded.
Fold on bottom score line and on all side fold lines. Adhere side flap behind opposite side, fold all bottom flaps in with flap with tape last. Adhere.

Good Morning Cupcake

Looking out my window it is a winter wonderland. The sun is making periodic appearances, and turning the snow to diamonds. I love this kind of day. Next week at this time we will unwrapping gifts, and munching on cinnamon buns, but today I clean and prepare!

This little cupcake box how-to was generously shared by Becky Roberts. She is amazingly talented. Be sure to check out her blog it is worth a visit. The tutorial for the box is here. Her directions are very easy to follow, and if you have made boxes before, you won't have a bit of trouble putting these together.

For the ribbon topper (not stampin up)I pulled a wire on one side of the ribbon and turned it into the little rosette. Another layer of ribbon was added, then I put them together with a glitter brad. The cupcake holder is from the Table Settings die for the big shot....I know I will get tons of use out of this die. A glitter ornament completes this little hostess gift.

Have a wonderful week leading up to Christmas. We are picking up Grandma tomorrow, and she is visiting for a week. She will join our family festivities next weekend as we gather to Celebrate the Reason for the Season.

Good Snowy Morning...well, here is another cold, cold day, and wow, another blast from Mother Nature yesterday. There are over 300 people stuck in cars on the 402, just west of here. We were pretty much spared yesterday, but those who escaped last week, got blasted.

Here is a very quick and easy Christmas gift. I added a little decor element to the front of the Dollar store frame. Inside, I added some fun designer paper, made a bow, attached it with some hot glue, and there you go. These make wonderful hostess gifts, or a nice little extra to tuck in someone's stocking. Tons of people have shown these on their blogs, but credit goes to Diana Gibb. She has a fun blog, with wonderful inspiration. Check it out!!! See how she added a cute button to hers, well, after I took my picture, I did the same thing!

Drive safe friends, the roads can be a bit tricky. No buses for the kids again...wish I rode the bus, then I could have a snow day too!!!

It's a snowman building kind of day...

The weather has turned very mild today. However, we are bracing for another storm tomorrow. Hopefully it will pass over quickly, I am off on Monday, and I need to do some Christmas shopping.

This little snowman is the same pattern as the Santa's from a couple of days ago. I used very vanilla, ran it through the northern reflections embossing folder, dirtied him up with a little sponging...and now he hangs proudly on the tree.

This is one of my favourite cards of all time, and I am happy to give credit to Amy who was the original designer. I covered my embossing folder with craft ink, then ran it through my Big Shot...gives such a nice distressed look. Easy clean up with some mild soap, and run it under the tap.

It really does look like a winter wonderland here. We have alot of snow. However, not as much as Lucan. Check out this link to see the piles and piles of snow. It is snowing again now, but schools and buses and everything should be back to normal tomorrow.

Triangle Santa Ornaments

Ok, I promise next year I will host an ornament event. There are just so many creative people out there sharing their ideas, and since I have been home for 2 snow days, I did have some time to play.

These Santa ornaments are so easy to make. The original idea is from a demo Linda Creech. These are her instructions...easy peasy! Simple directions as follows: 3 pieces of cs 3 3/4" x 3 3/4", score each diagonally, run through embossing folder, using sticky strip adhere each edge to a folded edge(forming a tree or cone shape). Now create the head using different SU punches! Mine are spritzed with the hairspray/shimmer paint mixture, and look so cute hanging on the tree. There are some snowman friends waiting to join the Santa but not quite finished those yet.

We have never had so much snow...it is a true record. London has closed down, no buses, asking people to stay off the roads. Since I work for a bank, it is important to be there for our customers, so we are delaying opening till 9, then business as usual. It is still snowing here, quite hard in fact, but there should be less traffic than usual, so shouldn't be a problem to get to work and find parking. My daughter Meaghan is snowed in, her car is buried under snow, so after work, I am picking her up, we will get her car over the weekend.

Right now the wind is howling, the snow is falling, and the flakes are HUGE. It is a total white out! This is day 2, and the outlook is for MORE SNOW! Crazy. Within a very few miles, they have no snow! Schools, banks, buses, malls...they are all closed. Here are a few pics of what it looks like after 2 full days and nights of snow.

We have a huge open field behind our house. In the one photo you can see the woods, in the other you can see how hard it is snowing and that the woods are totally lost in the snow.

Safe travels to those on the road, and if you don't need to go anywhere, stay home! I hear nap time calling!!!

WOW, we had a record snow fall yesterday, my Hubby is out blowing out the drive way for the 3rd time in less than 24 hours. The schools, the university, pretty much everything is still closed as more snow is expected today. Wish I could stay home again, however, the roads are plowed so off I go.

Yesterday we did get the tree decorated, and then pretty much chilled and enjoyed being home for the day. I stumbled across a great way to tie bows, and just had to share. The templates I made are so easy using the white backing from the dsp, however, a cereal box would work just fine as well. If you struggle with getting your bow just right, be sure to watch this video, then make you own template. Just leave a space in the template, and make sure your "flaps" are equal in size. Once you watch the video it will be clear.

I am also including a link to the "fork" bow. Talk about easy, and it follows the same premise as the first video. Be sure to give them a try, and let me know how it goes.

Paper crafts meet Cake Pops!

Happy Saturday. This is a very exciting day for the gals in our family, as we are going out tonight for my niece Kaitlan's staggette. We all have our ugliest sweaters, and after a pot luck supper, taking the bus to Cowboys...a great bar in London.

There is a bit of a competition for creating the best costume, and making fabulous food, so we decided to try something new: Cake pops. Check out Bakerella for videos and tons of ideas. They really are very easy. Bake a cake in a 9x13 pan, as directed. Once it has cooled slightly, crumble into a big bowl and add a can of icing. Mix, roll in balls, then dip in your chocolate covering. For our pops, we made them into peacocks. Kaitlan and Gerrit love peacocks, so we thought it appropriate to make a little treat with that in mind.

All I did was punch out a large scallop circle, score and cut them out. I punched some mini dots, layered them on, and there you have it.

We also made some reindeer pops as well!

I am post dating this post, so no one gets a sneak peak of our creations!!! If you are my friend on facebook, watch tomorrow...I will post all the pictures of our fun night out!

Sure hope this works! There is an option to "post date" a posting, so I am giving it a try. Perhaps if I take advantage of this option, my posts will be more frequent, as I can do a batch and set them to pop up on a daily basis! So here goes.

This awesome Santa was made by a fellow demo, and I have totally "lifted" it from the Demo website. Susie, gives full credit to another demo, Patty Lee for the idea. Thanks Ladies, I need to make some gift card holders for my Mom, and I think this cute Santa will do the trick!

There is a die for Big Shot that will make the boxes in a snap, however, I am also linking this tutorial from SplitcoastStampers, so you can make your own little bitty box.

We got our first dusting of snow, so I am starting to feel the spirit of Christmas making it's way into our home. The real tree is going up tomorrow, and with that, Christmas will be official in our house. Have a great weekend, and let me know if you have a chance to copy your own Santa!

Good Morning my Stamping Friends. It is really starting to feel like Christmas, I have the house mostly decorated, just waiting to get our real tree this weekend. Maybe this year, I will actually get some cards in the mail!!!

These cards were made with 1 piece of designer paper, along with some punches and ribbon. All you do is cut your dsp into strips of 4 x 3, put them on your base, add some ribbon and bling, and there you go...some quick and easy cards, just in time for Christmas mailing.

Enjoy your day. Back to work for me after a 4 day weekend...wish I was home to create some more! But, since I owe, I owe, off to work I go!!

Oh Christmas Tree

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas Tree! Now my dream has come true, much to the dismay of my kids! This is my Stampin UP! tree. I glitter the ornaments, made the cutest little ornaments with the snowflake die and the melty snowman, cut up some pop cans, punched them out and embossed them, added some ribbon and bling! The Santa boxes hold the door prize tickets for the Save out Hooters event. The Ladies will select a Santa, then select the package with the matching number.

This is still a work in progress, however, I have to say I am pretty happy with it so far.

Contempo Funfold

This fun fold card was totally inspired by Stampingleeyours, she has an amazing blog. The card is very easy to make, just cut your card stock at 8.75 x 4.25, then score at 2.25 and 4.5". The embossed piece is a technique called "de-bossing" I inked up the embossing folder with old olive ink, on the raised side. The picture of the hand is actually Amy Celona, who shows how to do this technique. She used craft ink, and that will be my next project. Makes a bit of a mess, however the folders clean up with a little warm water.
The other fun technique on this card, is added glitz. I took a very cheap bottle of pump hair spray, and added a bottle of shimmer paint, including the little ball. It doesn't clog up and adds such a lovely glimmer to your cards.

Love Birds

A good friend at work, is celebrating their marriage in Mexico. While the happy couple is vacationing, we are going in on a gift to celebrate this happy occasion. Once I saw the card on Teneale Williams blog, I knew it would be perfect. I used the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder, and since I am using a whole sheet of paper, I just embossed the white layer 2 times. Using the bird punch I punched out alot of the branches and the 2 little love birds...notice the pearls for eyes! The colour combo is sahara sand base, then a layer of sage shadow (retired) and whisper white. The final touch is a spritz of smooch spray...it makes it so shimmery. Hope you like this card as much as I do. Enjoy your day, and I hope you can steal a minute for yourself!

Aren't these the cutest little Santa Hats? They are so easy to make, even more so if once you watch the video on Kimberly's blog. All you need is a 4 x 8" piece of cardstock, an embossing folder, and a keen eye to mark out your score lines. The trim on the bottom was made with the fancy trim die for the Big Shot.

I'm Melting...

We are so lucky as demos, to have access to literally thousands of ideas on Stampers Showcase. When I saw this little melty snowman, I knew he was destined to be on a card. He is made so that you can detach him from the card, and hang him on the tree. All you need to make this little man are 3 different size punches, dimensionals to give him some shape, and a little sponging around the outside. I also distressed the edges a bit to add some more texture. The snowflakes are stamped in white craft, and the snowdrift is sponged with Marina Mist, then dazzling diamonds add just the right amount of glitz.

Hope you enjoyed the extra hour we got today. I made great headway on the prep for Save our Hooters. As a little teaser, this is a card we will be making at the event.

Contempo Christmas

Here is a cute card made with the Contempo Christmas set. Remember, this is the set we are using at the "Save our Hooters" event. Time is running out...you must register and pre-pay by Nov 11th, so I can get the order here in time for Nov 27th. This is such a great cause, and we are going to have so much fun.

This was one of the cards in the shoe box swap. The paper is from the Holly Jolly dsp, and coordinates so well with Contempo Christmas. Add in some old olive and cherry cobbler cardstock, and you have a fun, seasonal card.

Tonight's cards are really quite simple, the cool Caribbean is embossed with the snowflake embossing folder. I added some shimmer paint to to add a touch of shine. Dasher is dashing in cool Caribbean, and I like how the silver paper adds a bit of elegance to this card.

Christmas gift box....

This turned out so great...if I do say so myself. It is supposed to be a cupcake box, but I made it to fit a really sparkly ornament. For the box, I used real read for the base and some of the sparkly dsp from the Winter Mini. The little ornament is a clear glass ornament that is coloured with re-inkers. Add a little dazzling diamonds, and you have a lovely hostess or teacher gift.

Want to learn how to make this? Well, I will show you how on Wed Nov 17th. The fee for the class will be $5.00. What a deal. You will all make the box, and the ornament. Please rsvp so I can purchase the glass ornaments.

Hope you had a happy Halloween. We had less than 30 kids this year. A combo of not so nice weather, Sunday night, and the fact all the kids in our neighbourhood have grown up, made for a very quiet night.

Time for some Halloween fun. Here are 2 luminaries I made using the fancy favour box for the Big Shot. This die is so versatile. The center is punched out and I added a piece of velum with a black Owl and the twig from the bird punch. Instead of candles I used a battery operated flicker light. These are totally copied off of the Internet...I am so sorry, I don't remember who I copied. The little witches hat was made at our Demo night. It is made with some of the black waffle paper in the Winter mini.

Feeling Pink....

How do you like the new design? It is so dull and dreary outside, I thought this new design would offer a fun and refreshing change. Plans are shaping up for the big event "Save our Hooters". The sample is another card from the shoe box swap. I added an extra layer and the black ribbon. This is so elegant. The stamp set is "Snow Swirled" and has a great sentiment, and 3 really cute snowflakes, in addition to this tree. The tree is actually coloured with 2 different markers and gives a great 2-toned impact.

Geting ready for Halloween

Get ready to say BOO! Here is a fun little card...and no stamping...ink up your brayer, get out your punches, and let your imagination go wild.

Ghost is made with the owl punch, just cut off the little legs. Pumpkin is made from the large oval punch. By using different sizes of oval punches, you can vary the size of your pumpkins. I like to distress the edges with a little ink.

I started out with a brayered background but you could easily sponge if you use a light hand & rubbing or washing with your sponge instead of dabbing.
1. Brayer apricot appeal classic ink onto Whisper White card stock (4" X 5 1/4") from the top right corner down into the cs.
2. Place a 2 1/2" circle mask (sticky note punched) over the area brayered with Pumpkin ink.
3. Brayer marina mist ink over the mask from the top edge of the WW card stock down.
4. Brayer (or sponge) old olive from the bottom edge of the WW card stock.
5. Sponge on a bit of Baja Breeze ink between the Concord Crush & Garden Green inked areas to blend.
6. The base of the card has a hand-cut curved hill from Black card stock.

I look at a punch and see the shape, she takes the shape and makes people, characters, animals..you name it she can make it. Tea bag Favours

As I mentioned we hosted a Bridal Tea for the shower on Sunday. We encouraged everyone to bring their favourite tea cup, and to share it's story over a cup of tea. These are the favours I made. Easy, peasy...and a great way to use up retired paper.

Here is the how to:
Cut strips of paper 3.25 X 9"
Score at 6 and 9". On the last fold, cut a diagonal strip, then adhere the flap down, to create a pocket. Decorate as you see fit.

On the inside I used a stamp that says "A woman is like a teabag, you don't know how strong she is until she gets into hot water!"

For all the strong women in my life...this is for you! Have a cuppa on me.

WOW..what a fantastic weekend. Yesterday I was at Cropalooza from 9-almost midnight, creating and stamping with a roomful of creative Women. So much fun and so much accomplished. Over the next week I will share what I got done.

Today we honoured my niece Kaitlan with a Bridal Tea shower. There were 100 ladies sharing tiny sandwiches, and their favourite tea. Everyone brought their own teacup and shared stories of why it held special meaning. We really are so blessed to have such great family and friends, as Kaitlan was showered with very generous gifts.

The project I am showing you today is how to use the Big Shot to make a fabric covered star. For this example I used some of the Candy Cane fabric from the winter mini. This is my first stab at a tutorial...please let me know if you have any questions or need clarification.

Step 1. Measure off and rip a 3" strip off the longest edge of your material. Then cut that strip into 5" lengths.
Step 2. Using a piece of chipboard (I use the white backing paper from our designer series paper)cut into 3 x 5" pieces.
Step 3. Using a glue stick...yep, that is correct, a glue stick, attach the fabric to the chipboard.
Step 4. Run each piece through the big shot, using the star die. Make sure your fabric is up!
Step 5. Using Tombo glue, attach each petal of the star together. As you can see in the pictures, I use office clips to keep them together while the glue sets...this is a very quick process. Leave the clips on while you decide how to embellish your star, by that time it will be dry.

These are great as a tree topper, or wouldn't they be cute with a letter in the centre spelling out a child's name. Your imagination is your only limit.

Wednesday was my first experience with a shoe box swap, however I sure hope it isn't the last. Everyone designed a card, then made enough packages for 10 others to complete the projects. All the cards rocked. Here is another of my favourites, using the Jolly old Saint Nick stamp set from the Holiday Mini, and the new bigz die, tasteful trim. The die will cut through not only paper, but it does a fantastic job on felt and other material as well.

Today I am off to Elmhurst for a full day of crafting with Karen and Lisa, and 30 other ladies....what a great place to spend a lovely fall day, and what a wonderful way to spend a day....crafting!

Enjoy your weekend, and if wireless works, I will upload pictures and a project using the star die for the Big Shot. That was the project I demo'd the other night, and forgot to take pictures of the finished product!!!

Last night I had the pleasure of joining some of my fellow demos at our quarterly meeting. Alicia offers prizes and incentives, we have a demo theatre, and last night we did a shoe box swap. Over the top fantastic cards. All the ladies did a wonderful job of putting the packages together, and I came home with 10 cards. Over the next few days I will be sharing some of these creations.

I also did one of the demos using the star die for the Big Shot...AND...I didn't take any pictures of my projects...DOH! That means, I will need to make some more, and show you how easy they are to make...

How lucky was I to make one of our new Stampin' Sound Cards. These are shown in the winter mini, and sell for $7.50 each. You can record your own message for a truly personal keepsake. This design actually does double duty, and holds a gift card.

Give Thanks...

I stumbled across this on yahoo this morning, so thought I would share. We are spending our day at a demo derby watching my nephew Justin go for his last spin in his Geo...we are betting he won't be in the derby very long! At supper we will gather as a family to celebrate with food, fun and thanks. When someone is taken from you in a sudden manner and at an all too young an age, it is sometimes hard to be thankful. Canadian Thanksgiving, held on the second Monday of October, has origins dating back to a 1578 homecoming feast for explorer Martin Frobisher when he returned to Newfoundland after his search for the Northwest Passage. However, like Native Americans to the South, Canada's First Nations people celebrated harvest festivals long before Europeans came to North America.

The purpose and frequency of Canadian Thanksgiving has fluctuated over the years, but the current commemoration date was set in 1931. After WWI, Armistice Day and Thanksgiving had both been celebrated on the Monday falling during the week of November 11. In the 1931 the holidays split and Armistice Day became Remembrance Day. The holiday is statutory for all provinces except Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

For Americans our version of the holiday seems quirky, fitting in the same category as pronouncing the letter "Z" as zed, calling soft drinks "pop" and paper money in multiple colours.

In the U.S., Thanksgiving originated in 1621 as a three-day harvest feast celebrated by the Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony and incorporated prayers to survive the winter ahead. During the American Civil War, president Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving a national holiday to be celebrated on the final Thursday of November. Today the holiday is held on the fourth Thursday of November.

The American holiday is now focused on family reunions, NFL football games and, of course, turkey. Over the years, Canada's holiday has come to mimic U.S. celebrations - with family and food taking centre stage.

Canadians spend the weekend preparing for the ordeal of winter in the best way we know how - letting all cares beside the doneness of the turkey melt away and enjoying time with those we love.
